The current Jeopardy! champion, Luigi de Guzman, a lawyer from Arlington, Virginia, took the stage on Thursday night. De Guzman, a carryover from the previous year, hasn’t displayed any rust while winning $115,200.
Gilad Avrahami, a recent college graduate from New York, New York, and Annabel Osburn, a contract manager from Austin, Texas, were his opponents tonight.
After the “Jeopardy!” round, it was a tighter game than de Guzman was accustomed to. Ahead with $5,200 was Osburn. Avrahami was second with $3,200, followed by the winner with $4,600.
De Guzman turned the rules of “Double Jeopardy!” on its head to win $32,500. With $12,400, Osburn fell to a distant second, while Avrahami held onto third place with $6,400.
De Guzman benefited from that significant advantage because neither he nor his two rivals were able to correctly answer the question in “Final Jeopardy!”. De Guzman ultimately triumphed once more, bringing his total earnings to $140,700.
